Avery 6 Arrives!

There it is.

We’re proud to announce that Avery 6 is ready, on sale, and will be shipped within two weeks! We have an exceptionally strong gang of stories for you (of course) and this time around the more attentive reader may notice that there is a comfortable kind of patience that threads these stories together, a particular wisdom, one might say, an astuteness, some acumen, about those more difficult parts of our lives, the part that deserves attention, the part that presents to us what has become impossible and what has become possible. Yeah. While we are loathe to tell people what to do, we recommend reading this issue from front to back.

You’ll see why. And you’ll thank us later.

We’ve got stories from L. Annette Binder, Danielle Evans, Andrew Palmer, and Ann Packer.

We’ve got original art from L.A. Johnson.

And below we’ve got a sentence or so from each story, just to whet your appetite. read more…

Updates from the Slush Pile

It’s been a while since one of us has blogged, but we swear this is not because we’ve been lazy. In fact, quite the opposite! We’ve received more submissions this time round than any other—hundreds and hundreds and hundreds!—and we’ve been hard at work reading all of them. We’re nearly finished selecting our stories for Avery 6, and this issue will be just as wonderful as all the others.

Speaking of which:

Avery 5 was reviewed by NewPages! We couldn’t be happier. Moreover, the review is quite flattering, if we do say so ourselves. But don’t take our word for it [insert Reading Rainbow riff].
